Blueberry Bourbon BBQ Sauce
Make your summer BBQ even better by making your own BBQ Sauce
As I gear up for a poolside 4th of July weekend with friends I decided to make a homemade BBQ sauce that would make our grill out have an exquisite flavor. This recipe is perfect for summertime parties when barbecue is the food of the day.
You can buy endless Barbecue sauces in the grocery store, but I have to say that when you make your own it takes BBQ to a whole new level. Here is my recipe for an incredibly delicious Blueberry Bourbon Barbecue Sauce that is quick and easy to make.
Instructions to make Jennifer Maring's Blueberry Bourbon BBQ Sauce
Time to make... 10 minutes
Sauté the following together until onions are softened up.
1 Stick of Butter
1 Medium Size Onion
2 Cloves of Garlic
1 Lemon
Now add the rest of the ingredients and cook on a medium heat stirring regularly until it thickens up . Lower the heat slightly and cover for 5 minutes. Then uncover for a few minutes to thicken further. You can mash the Blueberries if you wish as well once softened to bring out more of the blueberry flavor (not seen in video), and a simple potato masher works just fine to do it.
1 Cup of Blueberries
2 Cups Tomato Ketchup
1/4 Cup Cider Vinegar
1/4 Cup Bourbon of your choice… I used Jefferson’s
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon Worcester Sauce
1 Tablespoon of honey
1 Cup of Water
