The Art of Entrepreneurship
Art and Entrepreneurship...
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” - Steve Jobs
Knowing When to Step Up or Back...
As an entrepreneur sometimes you don't have all the answers when you want them. In those moments sometimes it's best to sleep on an idea, or take a step back. But, other times it's just best to take small steps forward instead.
Ideas happen when your taking action, so whenever I find myself unsure if the path I am going down is perfect I usually don't step back, rather I step forward. Stepping back stops progress, while stepping forward and acting on a small piece of an idea often unveils more pieces of a puzzle allowing you to slowly build your masterpiece.
Don't let lack of knowledge slow you down...
Not knowing, and fear of the unknown, often holds people back from taking action and growing. But the fact is you will never have all the answers at one time, and sometimes it's turns out best that you didn't once you are on the path of figuring things out.
This blog is a perfect example of this conundrum. We are regularly asked "how are you going to monetize all of this work". We have lots of ideas, but the truth is we don't know exactly how, or if we are going down that path. Right now our goal is simply to be taking steps forward, and exploring content creation possibilities. The goal first is to make it as media rich and creative as possible. We think of it as our playground for creating and sharing both our abilities and our expertise.
Exploration is what it's about!
As with anything you can't avoid mistakes if you are creating something that's never been done before. You have to let go of the idea that you will have egg on your face at some point in the creative process. That is after all what being an artist and an entrepreneur is all about. So just keep pushing on, and exploring the unknown, creating something uniquely your own, and growing in the direction of your dreams.
At the end of the long road you are on you may or may not find a pot of gold, but you will be richer in knowledge and spirit for having taken the journey. Either way you are one step closer to success whether it be on this adventure or your next.
"I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
- Thomas Edison
