Blue Riders is a song I wrote that is tribute to all of the artists out there. A friend, mentor, and fellow artist Laurance Rassin introduced me to the painted works of Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) several years ago, and it quickly became a part of my creative study. German Expressionism is somewhat of a avant-garde style of abstract painting, and the movement sought to transcend the mundane and to pursue the spiritual side of art. The group included a number of Russian and German artists including Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc. These artists often drew parallels between painting and music, and would sometimes name their works compositions or improvisations. I seek to blend my art and music together in creative ways, and this tribute is just one way to start that process forward.
