Creative in Oceanside California
GETTING CREATIVE IN OCEANSIDE, CA
This post is a few weeks late coming to the Together In Style site. We had gotten home from California, and just a few days later the tri-state area went into lockdown because of the Covid 19 Corona Virus. Luckily we got out just in time, and have simply been staying in at home ever since. We are healthy, doing fine, and creating non-stop.
I was working on some posts, and noticed we hadn’t shared this story here on the Together In Style Blog, and it was kind of nice because it let me go back in time for a moment. This will have been the last trip my wife and I shared of pre-disaster freedom, so it’s kind of pivotal in some way. I’ve heard many say that in the future the world will be talked about in terms of pre-corona virus, and post corona virus. Our hearts go out to all of you, because we know for thousands it most certainly will. Sadly, we have lost a friend, and well known fellow photographer already to the disease, so there is no doubt in our mind that this is serious business, and lives will be forever changed.
Onto the story…. Although not perfect in the way we pictured this time together, Oceanside was amazing. The weather was beautiful at moments, but not so much for the large majority of our stay. However, that didn’t stop us from soaking it all in. It also gave us opportunities to get out with our cameras and live in the moment. Walks on the beach felt meaningful, and filled our hearts with joy. Mostly we just chilled and stayed put, but on our last day we took a drive down to La Jolla to kill some time prior to our red eye flight back to the east coast. We couldn’t have seen the dramas that would lie ahead of us once we got back to the east coast, so it was truly a blessing that we took this opportunity to take this little slice of life away from home.
We’ve been to Southern California numerous times for work. Usually it is connected to photography in some way whether it be a wedding or portrait we are photographing, conferences, speaking engagements, etc… Each time we try to take a few extra days, and most often we end up working still. The camera is just that way. Whenever we are in a place that is unique to our everyday lives, the creative spirit in us just can’t sit still. This time was no different. Below, I’ll share some photographs from this trip captured on our Lumix S1 and a couple of Sigma lenses. If you are seeking some large scale photographs to decorate your home, office, or building many of these would look amazing, and we have some gorgeous presentations in mind. Feel free to reach out and inquire about your favorite image, or a collection.
All the best… Charles and Jennifer Maring
