GREEN TEA - Chapter 18 Our Reel Life Web Show
It's the post holiday shuffle as we start to take action towards our dreams in 2016. We have some big ideas, but first we have to get organized and running like a well oiled machine after a few weeks of holiday bliss.
Weddings
There are a lot of things that have us optimistic about the coming year. For one, the phone has been ringing off the hook with wedding inquiries so it's obvious that a lot of couples have gotten engaged recently. Congratulations to all the newly engaged couples! Now get on the phone and call us to secure the date because we only take on 25 weddings max each year, and 2016 is booking up fast.
Being An Artist
This week David Bowie past away, which was sad news. A Charlie Rose interview with him came across my Facebook feed, and some of what he said resonated with us. He stated that one must be a bit crazy to decide to truly be an artist as artistry comes with a bit of dysfunction, and putting yourself out there for criticism takes courage. We hope Our Reel Life reflects a bit of this as it isn't easy to pave an unknown path and grow in public whether you are a painter, photographer, filmmaker, actor, musician, or all of the above. But, you must in order to grow so take charge if you are dreaming of success. Rest in peace David Bowie, and thank you for contributing to the world artistically!
The Print Resurgence
It's no surprise that this is finally coming around, but there seems to be a resurgence in the number of people wanting high quality printed products at our studio. While we never really focused on digital files alone, it's nice to see families having the realization that print is a luxury item that shouldn't be overlooked. There is simply no substitute for a finely crafted print when it comes to world class photography. It's sad when we see couples planning lavish events and then skimping on high quality print. Digital files are really why clients turn to us. We agree that they have their place, but great photography and art deserves to be done right especially when it's art of your personal lives.
CHARLEE
We are slowly working on bringing Charlee, our fine art clothing line to life. We have a website running smoothly behind the scenes, but want to embellish the site to reflect our creativity and attention to detail. So, we are no in the thick of producing 4K video shoots with a wide range of actors and models. We also have some amazing new products that are being printed and sewn as I write this post.
At Home
On the home front we have been taking a little time to update some of our rooms, and we have a long way to go. This week I added floor to ceiling curtains in our den. After doing this to our kitchen last month I knew we needed to extend that look around our home. It's truly amazing what a difference it makes in a room to have curtains from floor to ceiling as opposed to just around the window trim. It makes the rooms look grand, and eye catching, which is a lesson learned when it comes to home decor and design. But hey, we all learn as we grow!
Salon Nathaniel
We are planning a photo-shoot for one of our clients and friends Nate Bottone of Salon Nathaniel. He just did a major overhaul to the look of his salon, and wants do the same with his branding imagery. It's a natural fit as Jennifer has been using Nate's services for years. I am sure we will be sharing the story of how this unfolds in a future Our Reel Life.
That's about it in this chapter. Wishing you all an exciting and prosperous 2016, and hope you will tune in to our stories as we learn, grow, and share!
