New York Story - Behind the Music
I’ve decided to take the time to go into the studio and record some of these storytelling songs I’ve been writing the past several years. I’m kicking off this journey with a song titled “New York Story”, and I’ll be working with the very talented producer and multi-instrumentalist Eric Lichter of Dirt Floor Recording and Production to take the songs to new heights. I first learned about Dirt Floor on NPR, which called them “The Music Sanctuary of Connecticut”. Then the name just kept coming up at the shows of fellow musicians, etc… I have been to other recording studios, all of which were really cool in their own way, but Dirt Floor stood out above all others not only for the classic lush sound of their recordings, but also because of the experience they have created. To say that I recommend Dirt Floor to other musicians and singer songwriters is an understatement. This is more than a recording studio, this is an experience in music creation, and I’m confident that all who pass through their door leave more confident, and with a life memory they will cherish. You will learn more about yourself, and your music in this process.
Like most of my songs, New York Story, started out on an acoustic, and together we evolved it from there. This is a very personal song, and it’s written from the heart. I’ll elaborate in my next post, and I’ll also share a music video, and the story behind it all. But, I wanted to take you behind the music in this post, and share the cool experience I’m having at the moment. I’ll be releasing new singles every month for a while, so keep an eye out for more. You can follow me on Spotify on Apple Music and anywhere else you stream and download.
