Rainy Day Weddings
Come rain, snow, or shine Charles and Jennifer Maring bring calm to the wedding day created gorgeous photographs and memories for couples.
As luck would have it, this past weekend was met with some rain and wind left over from Hurricane Joaquin and in this episode we are on our way to photograph a wedding in Litchfield, Connecticut. We have to count our blessings though as the hurricane went out to sea and the wedding day, while we had some wind and rain was lavishly spectacular. We can't wait to share the photographs with our lucky couple.
Bad weather sometimes works to the benefits of couples in that the wedding photographs we create in the rain are incredibly romantic. We have actually photographed a wedding on the beach in The Hamptons with a hurricane barreling up the coast with outstanding results, and when couples see the images we create in these situations they usually say they wouldn't change a thing. Our goal is to bring calm to the situation, take charge, and go out of our way to make sure our couples enjoy every moment of the wedding day regardless of what comes.
Destination Weddings in Spain
Hotel Marques de Riscal is a 5 Star hotel and vineyard located in the Rioja region of Spain.
We are very excited about an inquiry this week for a destination wedding in Spain. Not that long ago, we were hired by a couple to both photograph, film, time-lapse, and create a wedding website for their guests to enjoy. Their wedding took place at Marques de Riscal, which is a well known vineyard in the Rioja region. On the property in the middle of a 16th century town called Elciego sits a gorgeous 5 Star hotel designed by Frank Gehry, which would be the focal point for this amazing wedding. Wedding Planner Shawn Rabideau brought this event to life with his impeccable style. Shawn is a visionary when it comes to weddings and event design, and his skills go way beyond the ordinary. While a lot of wedding planners simply throw insane amounts of floral at a wedding and call it a day, others like Shawn, know how to make weddings soulful for guests by creating one of a kind memorable experiences and activities for guests to enjoy. It's a rich balance of beautiful decor, and well thought out planning together that make Shawn's destination weddings a cut above.
What we adore most about Shawn is that he is open minded to creative ideas for his clients, and is always looking for experiences that go beyond decor alone. With this particular wedding we created a gorgeous wedding website for the couple to inspire their guest list, we time-lapsed the wine region, produced a gorgeous film, and captured stunning photography. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to create something truly amazing without boundaries. We would be so psyched to get to go back! Shawn also had a Luminaria flown in from London created by Architects of Air, which is a living art piece that guests can spend hours on end mesmerized by the experience. Just one example of just how outside the box Shawn can think. The couple not only opened it up for their guests, but also were generous enough to invite the whole town. Amazing is an understatement!

I used to play in a rock & roll band with group of very talented musicians, who are very close friends to this day. They just wrapped their second album, and they reach out to me asking if I was interested in created the album cover art. I decided that we should spin it differently and film a music video in 4K with with some unique angles and film looks, and then pull stills from the footage for the album art. I shot the film mostly in color infrared, and blended that with traditional color footage shot on a drone and graded to match. We are still working on this project, but it's coming together nicely. Can't way to share once it's all complete.
