The Influential Lumix GH5
Isn't it remarkable how many brands are coming out of nowhere and changing the shape of entire industries and ways of thinking? Look at Tesla for instance reshaping the car industry, the space industry, and the solar industry. On a slightly smaller level the same thing is happening right before our eyes in the photographic industry as well.
As of now we have a new camera system for all that we do that tops out as our favorite, and that is the new Panasonic Lumix GH5. Yes you read that correctly!
How can it be that Canon, Nikon, Sony, or Olympus didn't get that honor? Well, that's because we have spent time with them all, and while we liked certain aspects of each of them individually, on a whole each just fell a bit short of our modern expectations. Every brand has their forte, and every brand has their shortcomings, there is just no way around that. So, I won't sit here and bash any camera brand because I appreciate their efforts. We just have a different view of the future obviously coupled by extreme expectations in our line or work, and after all who needs another negative comment or opinion on anything... What I will say is that Lumix seems to be marching to their own drum beat at the moment, one in which they listened to the industry, and set out to deliver a product that wowed, and wow they did. Most certainly they have wowed us!
Let me start by saying that there is no doubt that our company to marches to it's own beat as well. We know we are different, and we take a great deal of pride in that. In fact we have always been outsiders, and we usually don't align with the masses whether that be in our industry, or even when it comes to potential clients. On the flip side, our clientele is discerning and they seek out the different, and love how we think outside the box. If you step back and look at us on a whole, you realize very quickly that we are truly one of a kind, and authenticity is what makes the experience we provide so unique.
It's part of the reason we seek out technologies that align with that way of thinking, and Lumix just fits our vision better than anyone else. They seem to have their finger on the pulse of modern artists that work in imaging whether that be a wedding photographer, YouTube creator, filmmaker, or digital artist. We of course fit into all of the above as well. This past week proved to us without a shadow of a doubt that we are making great decisions when it comes to our technology and here is part of the reason why.
This week we flew to Los Angeles to photograph a celebrity wedding with extremely tight press deadlines, we filmed our journey from behind the scenes and created cinematic vlog post, and we created fashion films for our Charlee Fine Art Fashion line. The only camera we needed to pull all of that off with style was the new Lumix GH5. It did it all with a standard of excellence that is unmatched in a variety of ways.
What's most astonishing about this camera is that it is so feature rich in terms of software that it seems each day we come to new conclusions about what it can do. The video above shares just a bit of that enthusiasm. Never would I dream of hand holding a DSLR or full frame Mirrorless camera with a 600mm lens and shoot video or stills for that matter hand held. However, on the Lumix GH5 we are doing exactly just that with a big smile on our face. The Dual Image Stabilization is just that good, and it's blowing us away on both the video and stills front.
I could go on and on, but we will leave it at this for now. Technology is supposed to bring with it new ways of thinking, and the Lumix GH5 is influencing our creative mindset in many new ways. Exciting times!
