WHY VLOG?

BEHIND THE SCENES WITH CHARLES AND JENNIFER MARING

There reasons are seemingly endless, but we vlog for both professional and personal reasons. Professionally as photographers and filmmakers vlogging gives us a chance to test out all sorts of gear so that we fully understand exactly how it will perform on client assignments out in the real world. Simply put, it gives us a practice platform, which makes us better at what we do...

On the personal front we vlog because it allows us to capture our personal story and history so that we can look back and see the progress we have made. We spent 10 years behind the camera capturing the stories of others only to look back and see that we had very little footage of our own journey. Vlogging is a way to capture where we live, what we love, and who we are. We have managed to carve out a niche in order to make a great living now for 25 years mostly with a camera.

We own our dream home, travel the world, and sometimes have to pinch ourselves when we realize where the camera has taken us. So, we also vlog in order to share with other aspiring individuals and artists that it is possible to make a great living with merely the ideas in your head coupled by a solid work ethic. Above and beyond that, vlogging is a creative form of art that also allows us to share "who we are" with potential clients. Are we a little crazy, you bet, but who isn’t? If I’m hiring an artist, I would be seeking an artist that is interesting, not boring and playing it safe… It’s transparent, and embracing our weirdness allows us to be authentic with out clients. Like us or not, this is who we are and we want to work with those who get it.

The reasons to vlog are pretty endless, and without a doubt it it's not right for everyone. However, even though we don't get a massive amount of views on the "Vlog" portion of our content, it something that we enjoy doing, and something that allows us to look back on some pretty amazing times in our lives.
