The Rocks of Oceanside, California
The Rocks of Oceanside, CA
PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHARLES MARING
The Rocks of Oceanside, California are scattered across the beach, or should I say perfectly placed by the ever changing ocean tide. Join me for a walk on the beach in an introspective personal project in North San Diego County, CA as I work with the Panasonic Lumix GH5 and a Leica 45mm f/1.2 Macro Lens. As I walk out onto Oceanside Beach I don't have a plan. Rather, I'm just listening to the universe to guide me towards what I am supposed to see.
Today I am approaching photography much like I do an abstract painting. Seeking something familiar in the contrast, and colors that surround me. Everything becomes interesting when you approach art this way, and even the most mundane and ordinary things are suddenly unique. Whether I am photographing nature and landscapes, or even a wedding, listening and opening your mind is the key to coming home with uncommon photographs that speak volumes.
The Lumix GH5 is a micro 4/3's camera system, which means the lenses are remarkably compact. It's an incredible travel camera, and one that I often turn to when I am creating personal work, and photographing for the joy of photography. The Leica 45mm Macro lens is a fun lens to carry because you can get extremely close to objects when you need to, and focus on details like the crystals in the sand. Combine that with the flip out screen on the GH5 and you are able to place the camera in unique positions that would otherwise be difficult if not impossible.
While I am a professional photographer, I make it a point to get out and create simply for the joy of it whenever possible. Every time I do, it makes me feel at one with the universe, and remember just how lucky I am to be here documenting this incredible world that surrounds us all. I hope you enjoy this little untold story that I found in Oceanside, California during my little walk on the beach.
All the best... Charles Maring
